PTFA
A warm welcome to Buxton Primary PTFA
We support the school by raising as much money as we can to enhance, enrich and improve learning experiences for the children. We have recently funded whole school events such as a whole school trip to the Panto and events such as World Faiths Day. We have funded may items of equipment on the school playgrounds and Forest Schools area along with providing funding for in-school equipment such as iPads.
We provide those ‘little extras’ that make school memorable, such as Year 6 leavers hoodies and gifts or having sheep at school for a week and much more.
Community Spirit & Fun
We also exist to bring families together within the school, because it makes sense for parents to be involved in the life of their chosen school. We have a series of events throughout the year which create better social links and make the school experience more fun for the children. Lastly, we’re here for the simple reason that we want to get together socially, meet new people, and have fun!
Our Events
Our big annual events are our Christmas Fayre which is the Saturday at the very end of November or early December and the Summer Fete which is usually the Thursday of the last full week of summer term. We also run school discos, raffles and fund-raising events.
PTFA Committee
The PTFA is run by a committee who are all volunteers, all being able to offer different amounts of support, no offer of support is too small for us! There are lots of ways to be involved and the more helpers we have, the more we can do. You may have useful skills, information or contacts that are new to us, and we love hearing fresh ideas!
The events for your children only happen because parents like you are volunteering an hour here and there to help support us. The more people become involved, the more we can achieve and the easier it will be.
Even if you have younger children at home, or only a small amount of time, could you come to a meeting, help set up an event, run a stall, help on the bar or serve food, sell raffle tickets, distribute leaflets or design a poster? Perhaps you have a professional skill you could help us out with? You don’t have to come into the school; some of our volunteering tasks can be done from home.
An AGM is held every year to elect our core Committee who volunteer their time to plan and organise events.
Please get in contact if you are at all able to support, even if just for an hour or two across the year!
Our current officials are:
Chair: Helen Lowson
Treasurer: Jo Kemp
